As our country continues to experience regular climate events, the infrastructure we use to manage our water needs to adapt.
Severn Trent Water’s Green Recovery Programme is a series of projects designed to improve water quality, combat flooding, and look after our rivers and watercourses across the Midlands.
As part of this programme, we were appointed to design and build a storage tank solution capable of holding an additional 3000m3 capacity of untreated sewage during a storm event at the Rugby Newbold Sewage Treatment Works.
We worked with our partners WSP, Selwood Ltd and Goodwin Tanks Limited to conduct feasibility studies, design and eventually construct this above-ground glass coated steel tank in time for the Ofwat regulatory deadline of 31 March 2025.

Mark Mason, joint managing director, commented: “This was a challenging project with tight timescales and complexities of working within an existing operational STW Sewage Treatment Works. But through collaborative working with our partners, valued supply chain and our client project team, we achieved compliance, and the tank began filling before the regulatory commitment.”
