The St Mary’s Church project for HS2/Fusion JV at Stoke Mandeville which was carried out to facilitate archaeological excavations of the church, graveyard and surrounding area has now been completed. The works uncovered many interesting and unexpected finds, not least the discovery of 3 Roman Busts and a large glass jug during the final excavations, all in very good condition and extremely rare. The finds confirmed that the known Norman church site had been previously used in Saxon and Roman times.  HS2 have published a number of videos of the archaeological works at the St Mary's Church site which can be viewed by searching YouTube for ‘St Mary's church Stoke Mandeville hs2’.
