Work has recently commenced on a £1m mine workings consolidation scheme to facilitate a new residential development by Barratt Homes. The site at Standhill Farm, Bathgate, is underlain by historic limestone workings (circa 1860) which are being filled with PFA/Cement grout through a grid of over 3000 boreholes to ensure there is no future risk of collapse or subsidence. 2 mine shafts are also being treated on the site. The 20 week programme is expected to be completed at the end of November.
