Mine workings and mine shaft treatment
Often referred to as ‘stabilisation’, ‘treatment’ or ‘consolidation’, we have been involved in drilling & grouting shallow mine workings for over 45 years across the UK.
As specialists in this field, we are also able to resource large mine workings stabilisation schemes using our in-house teams and machinery.
Our services include drilling and grouting shallow coal, ironstone, limestone, chalk, sandstone, and fireclay workings. We also treat mine shafts up to 400m deep, using methods such as filling open shafts with granular material, stage grouting, grout caps, and reinforced concrete caps.

Any new structure or property relies on a solid foundation. The land beneath the foundation must also be stable to provide enough support. Weaknesses in the ground (like the voids and fractures left behind after mine workings) put the project at risk.
Collapse of mine workings can cause settlement at the level of foundations, damaging the building and significantly disrupting the lives of the people who use it.
Watch our technical video to show our safe, sustainable, and innovative mine workings treatment process that ensures stability for future new builds of any kind.
