Company Profile
With 50+ years experience and supported by a dedicated team of qualified and experienced staff, Forkers provides a broad range of Civil and Ground Engineering services to both the public and private sectors.
We operate nationally from our head office in West Bromwich, West Midlands and our regional office office in Cambuslang, near Glasgow (Forkers Scotland Ltd). Both locations have extensive plant depot facilities and the proximity to major motorway networks, mainline stations and airports allows us to quickly access and support our operations in all parts of the UK.
An enviable reputation for problem solving, innovation, quality, client focus and attention to customer care together with our commitment to partnering and collaborative working ensures we can input fully into achieving successful completion of the most challenging projects.
The unique range of capabilities and expertise that we have in-house has been recognised by many clients and designers and we are regularly approached to provide technical advice and innovative ideas for future projects. We can also provide a full ‘design and construct’ service for any scheme if required.
Our specialist plant fleet includes over 50 drilling and mini-piling rigs which have established us as one of the UK’s largest contractors in the field of mine workings treatment, specialist geotechnical services and mini-piling solutions.
Many of our capabilities dovetail neatly into the renewable energy sector and we have secured a number of contracts for Windfarm Infrastructure, Ground Source Heating, Battery Power Storage Facilities and power stability projects.
Main drainage, water and waste water has always been one of our core activities and the company has been appointed as a Lot 2 framework contractor with Severn Trent Water for its AMP7 Capital Investment programme (2020 to 2025) which covers sewerage and clean water infrastructure as well as non-infrastructure work. This follows our successful framework agreements with Severn Trent Water during AMP3 & AMP4 (2000 - 2011) and our work as a Tier 2 delivery partner during Severn Trent's AMP5 and AMP6 capital investment programmes (2010 - 2020). The company has also been engaged as a specialist Tier 2 contractor on Welsh Water's AMP6 Capital Delivery Alliance framework carrying out infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
In addition, we are now working extensively in the Highways sector and for example operate framework contracts with the Smart Motorways Programme Alliance and with National Highways.
We have been recognised as an Investor in People (IIP) for our commitment to employee training and development and we are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Management systems certifications.
Our dedication and commitment to continuous improvement in health, safety and wellbeing performance has resulted in receipt of the British Safety Council International Safety Award for the last 21 consecutive years as well as 11 consecutive RoSPA Gold Medal safety awards since joining in 2009 which have resulted in being given the RoSPA Presidents Award in 2020 and 2021.
We are also committed to sustainability, equality, social value and community and we are proud to be part of initiatives and pledges that focus on these areas including: Prompt Payment Code, Fairness Inclusion and Respect (FIR) campaign, Women into Construction, Disability Confident employer, Social Mobility Pledge and the Building Mental Health Charter. We are very aware that Mental health remains a key issue in the construction industry and we are working with clients and other organisations such as to make a difference in mental health awareness and support and we now have 32 qualified mental health first aiders within our business.
