Reinforced Concrete Structures and Foundations

The scope of work undertaken in these categories is extremely varied and may often form a major part of other work types. Much of this work is carried out as design and construct and often as best value alternatives to original proposals.

Typical schemes have included:

• Water retaining structures including large detention and attenuation tanks for on-line or off-line foul and storm storage—up to 6500m3 capacity, (dimensions up to 130m long, 25m wide, 10m deep)
  
• CSO’s, screen chambers and overflows
  
• Culverts, headwalls, outfalls and flow control structures
  
• Shaft base slabs, intermediate landings and roof slabs
  
• Sewage treatment works structures including RBC units and reed beds, conical sludge tanks and tank bases, inlet works and pumping stations
  
• Retaining walls in sheet piling, reinforced concrete and composite king post/pre-cast panel, brick, masonry or special formwork finishes
  
• Bridge abutments including sheet piled cofferdams and CFA piling
  
• Pedestrian underpasses, work pits and basements
  
  

• Access roads, ground slabs and storage yards, for example contract - construction of 7000m2 of 200mm thick reinforced concrete slabs to external service yards
  
• Beams, columns and suspended slabs including use of Holorib decking and sacrificial formwork
  
• Industrial & Commercial building foundations including column bases, edge beams, lift and stair wells, and office block foundations, for example,. 3,000m3 of reinforced concrete foundations for major distribution centre
  
• Heavily reinforced plant foundations and machine bases e.g. for new recycling plant with 300m3 concrete and 30 tonnes reinforcement
  
• Canal basins, channels and capping beams
  
• Underground fuel tanks and re-fuelling areas
  
• Waterproofing including tanking, waterbar, spray applied systems for decks & slabs,  hydrophilic and injection sealant
  
• Vehicle wash, weighbridge foundations and above ground sprinkler tanks
  
• Foundations for residential developments - apartment blocks, link blocks, semi detached and detached properties - including rafts, double raft systems, strip footings, trench fill, vibro or piled foundations with ground beams
