Recent tender successes for mine workings stabilisation contracts include;

• Wednesbury Leisure Centre, Wednesbury, West Midlands for Sandwell MBC. The £210k scheme will run from Dec 2013 – March 2014 and involves treatment of mineworkings within the 2 Foot, Brooch, Herring and Thick Coal Seams to a maximum depth of 50m below the footprint of the new Wednesbury Leisure Centre. The stabilisation work is expected to require 500nr drill holes (18000m) and up to 8000T of grout.

• Deansfield School, Wolverhampton for Carillion. This £700k contract is being undertaken to treat shallow mineworkings beneath the footprint and external hardstanding areas of the new Deansfield Secondary School. In addition, probe drilling to locate/disprove the existence of mineshafts will be undertaken. Work will include drilling over 600 treatment holes (15,000m) and 12,000 probe holes (100,000m) as well as injecting up to 5000T of grout into the abandoned mineworkings. The scheme will be carried out in phases with completion in November 2015.

• Rotork Gears, Leeds for Morgan Sindall. Investigation and treatment of mineworkings below the footprint of the existing warehouse structure, external hardstanding areas and new extensions at Rotork Gears manufacturing facility. the £320k contract is expected to be complete in February 2014 and will require approximately 400nr treatment holes (8,000m) and up to 5000T of grout.

• Goodeaves Close, Coleford, Somerset for Mansell Homes, Treatment of mineworkings below the footprint of 28nr new house plots and the treatment and capping of 2nr mineshafts. The £64k contract will be completed in December 2013.
